Commercial systems, like natural systems, are shaped by evolution.
Because an ecosystem¹s species, be they biological or economic,
depend on each other for survival (or death) and growth, the disappearance,
the mutation or the introduction of a species may affect the fitness
of other species in the ecosystem and can even snowball into an
"avalanche" that sweeps the entire ecosystem. While evolution
has the potential to destroy, it is also a powerful source of creativity:
it selects the fittest individuals and recombines them in ways that
can lead to entirely new behavior.
At Icosystem we believe that understanding
the mechanisms of evolution is key to understanding the transformations
of business ecosystems: it enables us to force the pace of the evolution
and develop insight into future scenarios and their consequences.
We also harness the creative power of evolution to design new strategies
and technologies and to evaluate their success in particular economic
ecosystems.
