Icosystem and MIT AI Lab awarded STTR contract from the U.S. Navy
Icosystem Corporation Press Release
1 July 2002
Icosystem Corporation has been selected to receive a Phase I STTR award from the Office of Naval Research. The DoD STTR program supports collaborative research projects involving small businesses and academic centers. For this project, Icosystem will collaborate with the MIT AI Lab.
The goal of the project is to study a framework that combines learning and evolutionary algorithms to tackle problems in adaptive sensor management and distributed control of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs).
"We are pleased to have won this contract with the Navy for several reasons," said Paolo Gaudiano, Icosystem's Vice President of Technology. "First, it is an honor to be part of the Autonomous Intelligent Network and Systems (AINS) initiative, an ambitious project developed at the Office of Naval Research by Dr. Moshfegh that brings together a top-notch team from academia, industry and the federal government. Second, we are pleased to begin a formal collaboration with the MIT AI Lab. Third, the project fits nicely within our overall research goals in the areas of distributed control and smart sensor management."
