Icosystem wins Phase III contract to help Navy with Manpower and Personnel management
Icosystem Corporation Press Release
Cambridge, MA - 18 September 2006
Icosystem Corporation was awarded a Phase III contract from the U.S. Navy to assist with the development of the Comprehensive, Optimal Manpower and Personnel Analytic Support System (COMPASS) program, headed by Mr. David Cashbaugh of the Navy Personnel Research, Studies and Technology (NPRST).
The COMPASS program was developed to improve the way the U.S. Navy manages its manpower and personnel policies. COMPASS proposes to integrate accession planning, training management, community management and strength planning capabilities within a single software tool.
With the support of Phase I and Phase II SBIR contracts from the Office of Naval Research, Icosystem has previously developed IMPACT (Integrated Manpower and Personnel Agent-based Computer Tool), a software simulation tool supporting Navy decision makers with all aspects of Manpower and Personnel. IMPACT facilitates policy design to reduce costs and improve force effectiveness, empowering decision makers to understand long-term implications of their choices and actions.
"Our work on COMPASS draws heavily on the expertise gained through the development of IMPACT," said Paolo Gaudiano, Icosystem's CTO. "Furthermore, some of the components developed for IMPACT will be directly applicable to the COMPASS architecture."
"We are grateful for the continued support of our work from NPRST and other Navy units. We feel that our agent-based and evolutionary computing technologies are ideally suited to help the Navy and other large government or private organizations with many aspects of their workforce management. The IMPACT and COMPASS projects demonstrate the power of our technologies" Gaudiano added.
