Icosystem receives Gary F. Wheatley Best Paper Award for UAV paper at 8th ICCRTS.

Icosystem Corporation was the recepient of the Gary F. Wheatley Best Paper Award at the 8th International Command and Control Research and Technology Symposium, which was held at the National Defense University in Washington DC.
The paper, titled "Swarm Intelligence: a new C2 paradigm with an application to the control of swarms of UAVS," describes results of research performed by Icosystem with the support of an SBIR from the Air Force Research Laboratory (see the related press release). The paper was co-authored by Paolo Gaudiano, Ben Shargel and Eric Bonabeau of Icosystem, and Bruce Clough of AFRL's Control Sciences Division.
"We are thrilled to have been selected for this award, especially given the large number of outstanding papers that were presented at ICCRTS" said Paolo Gaudiano, Icosystem's VP of Technology. "We are especially honored to be the first recepients of this award since it was named in memory of Gary F. Wheatley."
As part of the award, Paolo Gaudiano is invited to present this work as a plenary talk at next year's ICCRTS, which will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
